Who We Are

We’re an Elim Pentecostal church based in Hoddesdon. Our community is gathered from around the local towns and villages with a heart to see Jesus’ name known better. You’ll find 60-70 of us on a typical Sunday afternoon, worshipping God, hearing His Word and sharing life together. There’s been an Elim church in Hoddesdon since the revival of the 1920s and today we’re carrying the baton of sharing Good News to our corner of Hertfordshire and beyond!

Hi, and thanks for stopping by! Since arriving at Life Church with my wife Jess and son Isaac back in 2016, we’ve been on an incredible journey. It’s not over by a long shot and we believe the best is yet to come as we continue to seek and trust Jesus in all we do.

My heart, hope and passion is for Life Church to become a community of people focused on Jesus and seeking a deeper level with Him in all we do. We love our gatherings in all their various forms at Life Church, but are also on an exciting journey, learning how we activate our faith to tell others about Jesus when we are the scattered Church.

When I’m not doing ‘church stuff’, I can be found either playing football or mixing on my turntables! I also love chilling at home with Jess and Isaac with a movie or, when allowed, watching football with Isaac 😊.

If you are curious about who Jesus is, what He did for you and the real meaning of life, then we would love you to go on that journey with us at Life Church.

We are part of the Elim Pentecostal Church

The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing Movement of Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland. We also have a presence in over 40 nations around the world.

Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

In a world that can feel like a desert, our 21st-century churches seek to be a place of spiritual resource within their communities.

The founders wanted the name of their new Movement to express their vision and values, and so chose ‘Elim’, the name of an oasis in the Bible that the people of Israel discovered as they wandered through the desert. It provided shade and refreshment to all who encountered it.
